PCCI Hosts International Buyer Seller Meeting With PHARMEXCIL

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Philippines‐India Business Council (PIBC) hosted the International Buyer Seller Meeting with PHARMEXCIL last 24 January 2013 at Dusit Hotel Thani, Makati City. The said forum is also in partnership with the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) and in collaboration with the Embassy of India. PHARMEXCIL is an organization established by the established by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India to help its members to achieve excellence in export and facilitating overseas buyers to find suitable trade partners from Indian pharma industry. The Buyer Seller Meeting this year was held in four Countries: Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan and Singapore. The delegation was composed of twenty five manufacturers, exporters and importers of pharmaceutical products & ingredients and herbal products from India.

 

Mr. Oscar De Venecia, Co‐Chairman of International and Trade Affairs of PCCI mentioned that a few months ago Atty. Miguel B. Varela, President of PCCI had a meeting with His Excellency Indian Ambassador Amit Dasgupta for the possibility of Indian investments inMindanao. PCCI and the Embassy of India discussed of setting up major projects inMindanao for Indian companies. Mr. De Venecia said that the world in exporting generic medicines with worth estimated at USD 11 billion, India is now widely‐recognized as a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry. India has garnered a worldwide reputation for producing high quality, low cost generic drugs. The pharmaceutical industry holds front rank in India’s science‐based industries. Mr. Madhukar Asnani, Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of India introduced the member of the delegation from India’s pharmaceutical industry who are looking for the possibility of bringing affordable and quality medicines from India to support the government’s revitalized health care policy.

 

Ms. Mridul Jain, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India Invited participants for the forthcoming International Exhibition for Pharma andHealthcare (iPHEX) on 24‐26 of April 2013 at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, India.An exhibition that brings together the drugs, pharmaceuticals and healthcare industry all under one roof. IPHEX 2013 will be one of the largest showcase of Indian pharmaceutical products and technologies to a global audience.Briefing and B2B meetings were arranged by PCCI and participated by one hundred twenty local companies.
